Product Risk Assessment: Informing Stewardship Decisions

Wednesday, April 17, 2019 | 2:00 PM ET - 3:00 PM ET

Members: $59 | Nonmembers $79

How to assure that the health of workers and consumers that use your products are protected

Product risk assessment is a critical process used to characterize the potential for adverse effects of potential exposure to chemical, physical, biological, and radiological agents under both current and future conditions of product use. This webinar will describe product risk assessment and its utility in informing stewardship decisions and provide two examples for substantially different consumer products. The examples will identify product-type specific exposure assessment methods, data and testing needs, and exposure models as well as sources of acceptable exposure levels.

During this webinar, we will help you understand

  • the value of product risk assessment
  • how to conduct a product-specific risk assessment
  • how to find/gather representative exposure data and chemical-specific risk criteria

Presenters

Patrick Sheehan, Principal Scientist, Exponent

Dr. Patrick Sheehan is a Principal Scientist in Exponent’s Health Sciences Practice. He has overseen and conducted exposure and health risk assessments for contaminated sites, accidental releases, chemicals in occupational, commercial, and residential environments and for consumer products for more than three decades. In conducting consumer product assessment, he has used product testing, exposure simulation evaluations, mathematical models and other tools to reliably characterize potential exposure concentrations for workers and consumers. He is also a contributing author to the Product Stewardship Society’s book Professional Practices of Product Stewardship.

Michael Posson, Managing Scientist, Exponent

Mr. Michael Posson is a Managing Scientist in Exponent’s Health Sciences Practice.  He has been conducting consumer product evaluations and risk assessments for over 13 years.  He has evaluated exposures to workers and consumers for a variety of chemicals in consumer products at various points in the product’s life cycle spanning from production to end use.  Mr. Posson has conducted evaluations involving product testing, exposure evaluations, and mathematical modeling.  He specializes in exposure, risk assessment, and industrial hygiene. He is also a contributing author to the Product Stewardship Society’s book Professional Practices of Product Stewardship.

Ankur Singhal, Managing Scientist, Exponent

Mr. Ankur Singhal is an exposure scientist in the Health Sciences group.  He has done evaluations to assess exposures to consumers and workers for a variety of chemicals in the environment and in consumer products.  He routinely provides consulting services to his clients for Proposition 65 compliance.  He specializes in using his technical expertise along with data science and machine learning techniques to find insights into data, especially those related to chemical exposure issues.  He is also a contributing author to the Product Stewardship Society’s book Professional Practices of Product Stewardship.
