Approaching REACH SVHC Authorization: a Johnson & Johnson Perspective

Saturday, September 29 | 8:30 AM – 9:00 AM

Learning Level: Competent | Topic: Banned/Restricted Substances

Designation of a chemical substance as a Substance of Very High Concern (SVHC) and eventual Authorization under the REACH regulation creates anxiety in the hearts of many stakeholders. This session aims to describe Johson & Johnson's strategy and approach to the possible authorization of two of its core substances so that attendees become keenly aware of the numerous implications and strategies available.

Learning Objectives

  1. Awareness that designation as an SVHC is not a "death sentence" and does not necessarily lead to Authorization under REACH.
  2. Realize that the Authorization process is a complex and lengthy one and not something to panic over.
  3. Identify strategies to refute possible designation as an SVHC.
