Lessons from the Challenges of Advanced Manufacturing for Success in Product Stewardship​

Material and manufacturing science and technology is changing rapidly and will only accelerate in the future. In many cases, managing many of the challenges brought about by the global advanced materials and manufacturing movement fall first on occupational health and safety practitioners. With over 40 years of experience protecting worker health in both the public and private sector, Charles Geraci, Associate Director for Emerging Technologies at NIOSH, will share lesson learned in dealing with emerging materials and technologies that can be extended and reapplied along the product life cycle.​

Keynote Speaker

Charles Geraci, PhD, CIH, FAIHA is the NIOSH Associate Director for Emerging Technologies. He earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Cincinnati and a Ph.D. in chemistry from the Michigan State University. Charles Geraci has earned national and international recognition for his scientific leadership and for his ability to translate complex scientific issues into practical guidance for worker protection. Most recently, he earned the NIOSH Director's Award for Extraordinary Science and was designated a NIOSH Distinguished Career Scientist. Over his career, Charles Geraci has made major contributions by refining research methods and strategies to develop effective worker health and safety approaches needed to responsibly develop emerging technologies.
