REACH 2018 and Beyond: What You Need to Know

Thursday, September 27 | 4:30 PM – 5:30 PM

Learning Level: Competent | Topic: Global Regulations

Many companies have the misconception that their REACH obligations ended when the last EU REACH deadline of May 31, 2018 passed. However, that was just the tip of the iceberg with broader impacts to businesses starting to be visible; evaluation, authorization and restriction. Companies dealing with potential Substance of Very High Concern (SVHCs) need to start preparing their strategy on how to react to the upcoming challenges. Understanding that registrations are the starting point for ECHA’s screening criteria and ultimately Risk Management Options will be reviewed. This will recap the last phase-in deadline and then delve into what’s next. The evaluation processes will be explored, looking at both dossier and substance assessments, and how ECHA is using these to locate chemicals of concern. In addition, this session will include some practical advice as well as current hot topics at ECHA including Brexit.

Learning Objectives

  1. Understand that registrations and a substance’s classification is the cornerstone for ECHA’s screening criteria and their Risk Management Options Analysis under Reach.
  2. Recognize how to approach the other REACH challenges beyond registration is a key take away for the attendees.
  3. Realize the critical importance of proactively managing their substances and what challenges they might face.
