Early Morning Insights on Integrated Risk Management

Even though it started at 6:45 a.m., there were plenty of people on hand for the Rise & Shine Roundtable hosted by Product Stewardship 2018’s Platinum Sponsor Sphera. Francis Trudeau of Sphera moderated Elevating Your Product Stewardship Program with Integrated Risk Management, a discussion with Charles McCormick Partner, Global Information Systems at Environmental Resources Management; Frederick Gouzoules, who has moved into product stewardship consulting after a 30-year career in industry; and Jennifer Howell, Director of Regulatory Innovation at FONA International.

The trio answered a wide-ranging set of questions including:

  • How they defined product stewardship
  • What the most important aspect of product stewardship is.
  • The most common pain points in regulatory compliance.
  • How technology is now essential to product stewardship.

One of the most thought provoking questions was what product stewardship will look like in ten years. Howell foresaw that every manufacturer will have product stewardship in their corporate goals. Gouzoules predicted that companies will provide additional staffing and resources to their product stewardship efforts. McCormick believes that there will be even greater penetration of technology into product stewardship operations at the same time that the gap between global leaders and laggards in regulation narrows.

The dedicated early morning attendees had the opportunity to ask specific questions about developments in product stewardship and even get expert insight the challenges their organizations face. It was a free-flowing conversation and exchange of ideas that stimulated everyone who attended.
