PSX Reflection

Over the years, I have attended and participated in various conferences and professional associations. They each have their own strengths and issue of concern, but for me, one of the most valuable is the Product Stewardship Society and its annual conference, PSX. If you've been wondering how you can grow and advance your career, and how you can engage with topics that impact you as a product steward, then PSX is for you!

First, let me clarify what PSS is and is not:

  • Product Stewardship Society (PSS) is not an industry advocacy organization (like for e.g., The Household and Commercial Products Association (HCPA) or the American Chemistry Council (ACC)); therefore, PSX arranged by PSS covers topics that impact all types of manufacturing as well as distributors and consultants in the area of product stewardship
  • PSS is not a professional conference organizing company (like for e.g., ChemCon)
  • Instead, PSS is a professional association dedicated to advancing product stewardship with a focus on the latest trends in education, valuable solutions to your daily challenges, and networking opportunities to deepen your knowledge and relationships

At PSX you will find:

  • Networking opportunities with Product Stewardship professionals across industries and value chains
  • Best practice sharing of specific product stewardship related processes/programs
  • Regulatory updates that matter to product stewardship throughout the product lifecycle. These include:
    • Chemical regulations impacting product development to Extended Producer Responsibilities for end of product life.
  • How to increase awareness of and create value for product stewardship within your organization
  • Prepare you with right skills to navigate the ever-changing regulatory environment and macro trends (i.e. Al, challenge in global trade/tariff)
  • Sustainability topics that cross-over with product stewardship (microplastics, sustainable product design, circularity, etc.)

For me, I love that PSX aims to engage product stewardship professionals from various value chains and that it covers many topics of relevance to product stewards. I feel that PSS and PSX take a holistic approach to product stewardship, which is really valuable and enables me to grow as a professional.

As we prepare for PSX 2025, I'm interested to hear from you: if you've attended PSX before, why do you love it? If you've not attended, what issues would you most like to learn about? And please join us at PSX in Houston September 16-18.
